Visit to countries in the Global South to prepare for the launch of T-GLIPs and the Faculty of Global Innovation and Development (GLIDe)

In February 2026, representatives from Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) visited the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Senegal to promote TMU to local high school students and others in preparation for the launch of T-GLIPs and GLIDe. They participated in a study abroad fair attended by local interested parties and held an information session for high school students. At the venues, Dr. Oussouby Sacko, an executive director of Tokyo Metropolitan Public University Cooperation, who has strong ties with African countries, gave presentations. They received a high level of interest, as many local students brought inquiries and questions regarding T-GLIPs and GLIDe.

Additionally, they visited the University of Ghana in Ghana and the University of Dakar in Senegal to exchange views on potential future collaboration. They also visited the Japanese Embassy in Ghana and Senegal to share information on local higher education and study abroad trends.

This visit is a valuable opportunity to promote TMU to many students in the Global South, local universities, and related organizations.
