History
Our University was founded in April 2005 under the name “Tokyo Metropolitan University (首都大学東京) ” by reorganizing and combining four metropolitan universities: Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University of Health Sciences, and Tokyo Metropolitan College. The name was then changed to “Tokyo Metropolitan University” in April 2020.

2018 | The four schools in the Faculty of Urban Liberal Arts (School of Law, School of Business Administration, School of Science, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences) reorganized and four new faculties founded: the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and Faculty of Science Graduate schools correspondingly restructured to create 23 departments in 7 faculties and 28 departments in 7 graduate schools |
