TMU rated as the world’s number one in citations -Overall score ranks 6th among Japanese universities

According to the Times Higher Education’s 2013-2014 World University Rankings

According to "the Times Higher Education’s 2013-2014 World University Rankings”※1 released on October 3, Tokyo Metropolitan University was ranked 221st, compared to 266th previous year.

Notably, the university got the highest score in the world in terms of citations, recording a perfect score of 100.0.

The ranking among Japan’s 782※2 universities is 6th (last year : 7th), behind the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University and Tohoku University.

The ranking is determined based on indicators in Teaching, Research, Citations, Industrial-Academic Partnership, and International Outlook. This international ranking, which quantifies and objectifies a wide range of attributes, shows that our university is acclaimed internationally as well.

We will continue enriching our educational and research programs so as to remain a university with an excellent international reputation.
