TMU ranks 7th among Japanese Universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Tokyo Metropolitan University ranks 239th in the ”Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-2015”※1 which was released on October 1, 2014.

The ranking among Japan’s 781※2 universities is 7th, behind the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University, Tohoku University and Nagoya University.

The ranking is determined based on indicators in Teaching, Research, Citations, Industrial-Academic Partnership, and International Outlook. This international ranking, which quantifies and objectifies a wide range of attributes, shows that our university is acclaimed internationally as well.

We will continue enriching our educational and research programs so as to remain a university with an excellent international reputation.


※1 An international university ranking conducted by Britain’s Times Higher Education since 2004. The quality of research is assessed based on indicators such as number of research paper citations and degree of information dissemination.
