In October 31, 2013, the signing ceremony of the basic agreement on the collaborative education consortium among the three universities of Tokyo Metropolitan University, Ibaraki University and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, which have departments of science and engineering, was held to establish the said consortium and enhance the collaboration with ASEAN countries.

The three universities will work together to promote the collaborative education programs and the credit transfer system to boost student exchanges with universities in ASEAN countries.

The aim of the collaborative education consortium is to establish a platform to achieve coexistence of development, growth, nature and human society in ASEAN countries and to foster environmentally conscious individuals who have a global perspective. Under the themes of agriculture, industry, food science and regional development, the three national and public universities work together with higher educational institutions in ASEAN countries that have been achieving remarkable development as a world’s growth center to promote the collaborative education programs to address these issues.
