On July 23, 2026, H.E. Mr. Teimuraz Lezhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan, visited the Minami-Osawa Campus of Tokyo Metropolitan University.
During his visit, Ambassador Lezhava delivered a special lecture for TMU students, speaking about Georgia’s history and culture, the current state of exchanges between Georgia and Japan, and Georgia’s role in the international community. The lecture was followed by an active question-and-answer session, providing students with a valuable opportunity to deepen their international understanding.
Ambassador Lezhava also met with President Takaya Ohashi. During their discussion, they exchanged views on the establishment of the TMU Japan Center for Georgian Studies (tentative name), which is expected to be supported by the Ministry of Education of Georgia, and confirmed the potential for further collaboration in the future. Mr. Irakli Toturadze, First Secretary of the Embassy of Georgia in Japan, was also present at the meeting.
The visit was coordinated by Professor Hiroki Maeda (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences / Graduate School of Humanities, Director of the International Exchange Division of the International Center), who also attended the special lecture and the meeting with the President.
