Tokyo Metropolitan University and Meio University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 8, 2026.
This MOU aims to foster talent capable of addressing social challenges and creating new value through mutual cooperation, while enhancing the quality of education and improving operational efficiency.
Under this partnership, the Faculty of Global Innovation and Development of Tokyo Metropolitan University, scheduled to open in April 2028, will collaborate with Meio University. Through joint educational and research initiatives that leverage the distinctive characteristics of their respective regions, and through collaboration among faculty and staff, students at both institutions will deepen their interdisciplinary and practice-oriented learning.
Furthermore, through a reciprocal student exchange programs(Domestic Exchange), the two universities will promote a wide range of exchanges, including providing opportunities for learning in different regions and enabling students to take institution-specific courses.

〇Faculty of Global Innovation and Development:GLIDe

(approx. 50 students admitted after completing an educational program in Japan and 25 students admitted after completing an educational program overseas)
■ Location: Minami-Osawa Campus, TMU (1-1,Minami-Osawa, Hachioji-shi, Tokyo)
■ Features: Offers a new form of learning that organically connects the five specialized fields of Regional Society, International Politics, Development Economics, Urban Science, and Ecological Conservation through multiple lenses across the humanities and sciences. All classes are conducted in English, with the aim of cultivating individuals who can play an active role on the global stage.

■ Established: April 1994 (founded); transitioned to a public university corporation in 2010
■ Admission capacity: 595 students
Faculty of International Studies: 340 students(Department of International Cultural Studies: 180; Department of International Tourism Management: 160)
Faculty of Human Health Sciences: 255 students(Department of Sports and Health Sciences: 95; Department of Nursing: 80; Department of Health Information: 80)
■ Location: 1220-1 Biimata, Nago City, Okinawa
■ Features: Based on its founding philosophy of “Peace, Freedom, and Progress,” the university offers a liberal arts education aimed at cultivating internationally minded individuals with a balanced development of intellect and sensibility. The Faculty of International Studies fosters the ability to think critically and logically, practice intellectual ethics, and develop expertise from an early stage on the foundation of a broad-based liberal arts education, in order to address increasingly complex and diversified social challenges. It aims to cultivate individuals who can play active roles both in Japan and globally. The Faculty of Human Health Sciences is founded on the principle of enabling individuals to lead fulfilling and healthy lives, and aims to cultivate “health support professionals” and “nursing professionals” through scientific inquiry in the fields of sports, health, nursing, and data science.
