Approach to U.S. Universities in Preparation for the Establishment of the Faculty of Global Innovation and Development (GLIDe)

In March 2026, representatives from Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) visited several U.S. universities to share their views regarding the implementation of exchange programs between domestic students in Japan and international students for GLIDe, scheduled to open in April 2028.

During this visit, Vice President Dr. Masayoshi Noguchi and other representatives explained the university-wide internationalization initiatives in education and research at TMU, as well as the curriculum of GLIDe, leading to a lively discussion.

Furthermore, this visit is a meaningful opportunity to take the first step toward international collaboration, including the establishment of cooperative relationships with the City University of New York, the University of Delaware, the University of Nebraska Omaha, the University of Iowa, and Drake University, with a view to implementing future student exchange programs.
