研究テーマエネルギーの有効利用に向けて、リチウム二次電池や燃料電池に代表される電気化学エネルギー変換デバイスの高性能化に取り組んでいます。電極や電解質といった構成材料の設計から、それらを有効に活用するための電池の設計まで、構造化をキーワードに研究を行い、二酸化炭素排出量の削減に取り組んでいます。

社会等との関わり社会のニーズに対応した電池材料や電池技術の開発を進めている。研究会の開催や行政と連携を通して、知的資源を社会に幅広く提供できるよう努めている。H28年度からは水素エネルギー社会構築推進研究センターに参画し、研究開発だけでなく、教育や啓蒙活動を通して大都市東京における水素社会の実現に取り組んでいる。
