Prof. Masatake Haruta of the Faculty of Urban Environmental Sciences received Doctor Honoris Causa from Université Catholique de Louvain.

 Prof. Masatake Haruta of the Faculty of Urban Environmental Sciences received Doctor Honoris Causa from Université Catholique de Louvain on May 27, 2014.
 Doctor Honoris Causa has been designated as the highest academic honor by many universities. Université Catholique de Louvain has granted the title to several persons about once in a decade. 
 Prof. Haruta studied in Prof. Bernard Delmon’s laboratory of Université Catholique de Louvain as a visiting scientist from the Science and Technology Agency of Japan in the one year from October 1981 and conducted research on the preparation of monodisperse metal sulfide. After back in Japan, he carried out joint research with Prof. Delmon’s laboratory on chemical sensors for the four years from 1987, enhancing exchanges between them.
